Ugh, this sucks... Maddie thought to herself idly whilst sitting on the grass outside of her house. Closing her eyes and leaning back slightly, she zoned in onto her "uncle" - Edward - since at least using his mind reading skills she could see what everyone else was up to. Whether or not that was a good idea Maddie hadn't decided yet.
She sifted through their thoughts, trying to zone out of anything she didn't want to hear. Basically, she just stayed away from Rosalie and Emmett's thoughts. She stayed away from Carlisle too. For some reason that Maddie didn't quite understand fully herself yet, she respected the oldest member of the Cullen clan. Somehow, going through his head seemed wrong to her. She moved from head to head, hearing random thoughts that were on no consequence to her. How on earth can Edward live with this 24/7? She thought, as just listening to half a dozen heads was bad enough for her.
Finally she found herself surrounded with the thoughts of Renesmee Cullen: the youngest member of the Cullen family... Quite literally. Maddie smiled to herself as she let go of her uncle's ability and opened her eyes. Nessie was on her own, which made it even better, since Maddie wasn't fond of the wet dog smell that always seemed to linger in the house. Maddie jumped up off of the grass and made her way back into the house and up the stairs to where Nessie currently was: her room.
"Nessie," Maddie sang as she entered the girl's room. She didn't bother waiting for an invitation to be let in. Every vampire knew that you don't actually need an invitation to get into places. "You busy?"
She asked, leaning against the door frame with her arms crossed and her arms alight. OUTFIT[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Renesmee really hated the night. Especially the nights, like tonight, when she didn't feel like sleeping. So far tonight, Rensemee had gone from attempting to sleep, to reading, to listening to her iPod, to back to trying to sleep, and basically anything else that she could do in her room. At this point, she wished she still had a box or two to unpack from the move, but Esme had demanded that all the unpacking was done the first day here, and it was.
Finally, Renesmee settled on reading once again, and pulled the book The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening & Struggle back out from her bookshelf. Throwing herself down on her bed, Renesmee wondered why she had decided on rereading this series. Everything in the book about vampire lore was so off, but, as cheesy as it may sound, the love triangle was alluring and addictive. But she didn't get far into reading before she heard steps coming towards her room.
"Nessie,"
Without looking up, Renesmee could tell that it was Maddie. "You busy?" Maddie asked. Renesmee shook her head, "No. I was just reading a book," she said, as she closed her book, and began to get up to put it back on the shelf. "Why?" She asked, "What's the matter?"Renesmee didn't know why Maddie was at the frame of her room, asking her what she was up too. Maddie wasn't the fondest of Renesmee, so having her standing here, midnight, was a bit confusing to her. Rubbing her arms, Renesmee spoke once more, sounding like a broken record, "Is everything alright?"OUTFIT. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

The smell was worst in Nessie's room, but considering the wolf she hung around with most of the time that was hardly surprising. She almost brought it up, but decided against it. After all, she knew why it stank. It's not like it was some big secret in this house. Yeah, maybe to the rest of the world, but not here. Besides, humans couldn't smell it. Lucky them.
"No. I was just reading a book,"
Maddie chuckled quietly to herself. "Yeah, I gathered as much,"
She said, her eyes flickering to the book she was about to put away. "You know that the t.v. show got it so wrong..." Maddie added, her eyes still on the book. "Why? What's the matter?" Maddie got asked that a lot. She knew that they asked her because they cared about her, and deep down, she was grateful. But sometimes it just got annoying. "What's the matter?" along with "Are you okay?" and a number of other phrases were normally opening lines when someone wanted to talk to her. "Is everything alright?" There was another one. It's like they didn't trust her, like they were always waiting for her to make a wrong move. Although with her track record it wasn't hard to see why. She shoved the thought aside. She had eternity to think about it. "Nothing's the matter. Everything's fine." Maddie replied, answering Nessie's two questions in one short - but totally unnecessary - breath. She took another one as she continued to talk. "But since it's impossible for me to sleep, and it looks like you're not sleeping either... How about we go and do something?" If Maddie was being honest with herself, part of the reason she'd asked Nessie was to see the reaction on her face when Maddie mentioned them doing something together. Maddie often found herself envious of Nessie. After all, she got the human blood from Carlisle, yet they expected Maddie to only have second rate animal blood. Maddie hadn't been a vampire all too long, yet Nessie had been one - or half of one anyway - her entire life. She'd had longer to adjust. It made no sense. It was wrong that Renesmee was doubting why Maddie was standing at a door, but truthfully, she had no clue. Maybe she had questions about attending school. or maybe it was to talk about the Cullen's lifestyle. Hell, maybe Maddie was standing there just for something to do, since there was much else to do at this time of night.
"Yeah, I gathered as much,"
Renesmee couldn't help but roll her eyes, under the safety of her closed eyelids, at Maddie's comment, as she sat back down on her bed. She did ask what she was up to after all. When Maddie commented on the TV show, Renesmee was a bit shocked at first. To Renesmee, Maddie didn't seem like the type to watch a Teen Drama about Vampires. "I've never seen it, but I guess you would of watched it as a human, right?" Renesmee said, quickly doing the math in her head, figuring the show came out around the last few years of Maddie's human life. Although Renesmee wouldn't of pinned Maddie as being annoyed, when she asked if she was okay, but after, when Maddie answered her in one short [un-needed] breath, Renesmee could sense some sort of annoyance. She made a small mental note to not ask Maddie if she was alright ever again. "But since it's impossible for me to sleep, and it looks like you're not sleeping either... How about we go and do something?" What? Renesmee was confused. And the look on her face matched it. Maddie had never wanted to 'hang out' with her before, and last she checked, Maddie didn't really like Renesmee all that much. Renesmee did feel a bit bad about that though, since, from time to time, Renesmee was treated with human blood, and Maddie was left struggling with her lifestyle. But besides that, Renesmee didn't get what Maddie had against her. "So, what do you say?" Maddie speaking snapped Renesmee back from her thoughts. "Oh, yeah. Yeah, sure," She said, "Did you have anything in mind? Rensemee asked, figuring that little to no harm could come of the two of them getting along. OUTFIT.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

"Oh, yeah. Yeah, sure, did you have anything in mind?"
Now it was time for Maddie to be stunned. It was a pretty well known fact - between the two of them at least - that Nessie and Maddie didn't always see eye to eye. Well to be honest Maddie was sure that they almost never saw eye to eye. She was pretty sure it wasn't possible, considering she was half vampire half human. This had to be one of the rare occasions where they'd actually be doing something together... And Maddie hadn't needed to use Jasper's ability to get her to do so. Maddie quickly left her thoughts and smiled at her younger cousin-so-to-speak. "Great!" She said. Maddie now had to figure out how to get out of here. Or, more specifically, how to get out of here without getting stopped by a very angry vampire who'd seen them trying to escape. She concentrated her thoughts onto Bella Cullen. She was meant to be a shield, but so far she hadn't been able to shield herself from Maddie borrowing her ability. The shield could protect the two from Edward, but not Alice. Crap. How was she going to evade Alice? Actually, why hadn't Alice stopped her already? Her eyes - which had been roaming around the room - once again set on Nessie. And then it was like a light switch had just come on about Maddie's own head. Alice couldn't see Nessie (much to her disappointment). She'd heard stories about how Nessie was born. Alice hadn't been able to see her then, and Alice still couldn't see her now. What else had she said? Maddie pushed further back into her memories until she found the right one. Something about how she hadn't been able to see Bella because of Nessie. Surely if Maddie was with Nessie, then she wouldn't be able to see Maddie either! The smile on her face grew as she came to this realization. "Come on," Maddie said, walking into the room towards her window. "Or we'll never get back before they realize we've gone." OUTFIT[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Sure, Renesmee was sort of glad that her and Maddie seemed like they were finally attempting to get along, but she wasn't about to run through the house, announcing so. It was hard living in a house where not everyone saw eye. At times, Renesmee felt like she brought enough tension into the house with the wolves being around, but this 'thing' between her and Maddie was something else. Of course Renesmee felt bad that the two never clicked, like the family had hoped, but there was only so much to do.
Renesmee couldn't pinpoint what was weirder about the situation that the two of them had gotten themselves into: the fact that Maddie had asked if they wanted to do something, or that she had said "yes" so quickly. Or even how excited Maddie seemed about it all. Whatever it was, Renesmee blamed it on a combination of mid night boredom and being alone.
"Come on, or we'll never get back before they realize we've gone."
Renesmee's excitement to hang out with her 'cousin' quickly started to fade into doubt and confusement, yet she still stood up from her bed, grabbing a sweater that was hung over her desk chair, and followed Maddie to the window. "What exactly do you have in mind?" Renesmee asking, hoping for some sort of answer. "And what do you mean 'before they realize we've gone'?" There was all sorts of things running through her head, but when it came down to it, Renesmee couldn't back out now. And besides, she didn't want to go back to tossing and turning in her room alone.
